i got a public video instillation site!

i just got approval to project one of my video art pieces on the outside wall of 2 buildings in downtown syracuse! the instillation is starting this week and should run all summer!

this opportunity is made possible through the UVP (urban video project) a group associated with syracuse university as well as the syracuse public arts commission. needless to say, i'm ecstatic! this particular piece is something that i have wanted to project large scale as a public art instillation since its conception in 2006! woot. check it out here:

rips in the awning from Emily Cobb on Vimeo.

just to know: when installed, just the "rips in the awning" part will play - not the beginning section where i am blabbing. i will post an update soon with footage of the instillation in action.

  1. Emily, I'm so proud of you. This is great. I remember having a great conversation with you a while back about the inaccessibility & often elitism of art and how art should be free for the public in spaces like this. Very impressed you are doing this. I think it's just fantastic.
